CURRICULUM MODULE

A. Compulsory Courses


There are three common compulsory courses which require all postgraduates to study, namely, Business English, Socialist Economic Theory and Practice, Marxism and Social Science Methodology.


B. Discipline basic courses


The discipline basic courses aim to train students to master the basic analytical skills in business administration, which consists of five courses. This module mainly teaches students to learn the methods and tools of economic and management analysis, master the research methods of business administration, and improve the analytical and writing skills.


C. Core Courses


Core courses are comprised of three modules, namely, leadership skills, functional management skills and legal skills. First, the leadership skills module includes three courses: Strategy Management, Organizational Behavior and Leadership and Corporate Ethics and Social Responsibility. These courses focus on developing students' soft skills such as strategic thinking and responsibility. Second, functional management skills module refers to knowledge and skills in corporate human resources, finance, marketing and operation. Third, legal skills module enables students to grasp and understand the legal environment of corporate management, and cultivate legal skills in business management. These modules not only represent the core knowledge system of the MBA education, but also highlight the advantageous discipline of our University, law, as well as its feature of integration of economics, management and law.


  1. Elective Courses


Elective courses include five modules, financial operation skills module, innovation and entrepreneurship skills module, international vision module, role-play module and knowledge expanding module. Students must select course from these five modules to obtain at least 10 credits. In the knowledge expanding module, students can not only choose the elective courses offered by MBA Education Centre, but also the courses offered by the Graduate School. These modules not only constitute a path for achieving the aim of MBA education, but also reflect the disciplinary strengths and features of the University in finance, accounting, taxation, and law, etc. In short, they provide strategic support for our MBA education featuring integration of economics, management and law.

5. Practice teaching


As an essential part of MBA education, practice is included into our MBA curriculum, including “Teamwork and Leadership” practice classes, lectures, enterprise investigation, competitions and writing management diagnosis reports. Practice teaching reflects the balance between and integration of theory and practice of our MBA curriculum, and also provides students with the opportunity to develop and display their personalized and teamwork skills. In addition to the prescribed practical teaching, the School also organizes non-compulsory overseas study tours to provide students with international learning opportunities. The School has also formulated policies to subsidize overseas study tours for encouraging students to apply for such activities at home and abroad. 6. Thesis


As a useful method to test student’s ability of comprehensively using theories and research tools and of solving practical problems, thesis is animportant part of the MBA curriculum. MBA thesis emphasizes programme design, case study, entrepreneurship plan and other application-oriented topics. The forms of thesis include thematic research, investigation report, enterprise diagnosis report, enterprise management case and analysis, etc.


The time required for writing thesis shall not be less than six months. Writing thesis is also a process in which supervisors provide individualized guidance for students' personal development. For thesis requirements, please refer to Regulations on MBA/EMBA Thesis Writing of ZUEL. MBA students can learn and communicate with other types of postgraduate teams under the guidance of supervisors, and research on appropriate practical issues and write theses according to their personal interests and career development plans. The School also helps students to complete their theses and examines whether those theses meet the requirements of master's theses by thesis proposal defense, preliminary defense, anonymous review and defense.
